Printer setup, linkage and troubleshooting (KB0012195)

DOCUMENT PRODUCTION PREREQUISITES

To print Booking File related documents, e.g. Ticket, Itinerary, etc.., it is necessary to have a correct setup within the AAT (Agency Authorization Table). This setup is also referred to as ‘linkage’.

The prerequisites include the following:

  • Output Device Addresses (OUTPUT)
  • Authorized Airlines (AUTH)

The Output Device Addresses (OUTPUT) is a mandatory field for document production.  OUTPUT shows the address of the printers and devices which are authorized to receive data generated in the name of the agency account.

Note: More than one GTID can be added at a time if separated by a slash or end item in the add entry.

The alpha character following the address indicates the type of transmission traffic being received:

  • P = ticket or itinerary printer
  • M = MIR device
  • X = printability printer
  • S = satellite printer

To verify your linkage, you can use the following format: HMLD or HMLDPCC (display linkage for all terminals in pseudo city).

To display a list of the Output devices for your office, you need to display first  the AAT table of your agency and verify the OUTPUT field.

Display the AAT by typing:

  • JAPCC/D in 1G, where PCC is the Galileo pseudo city code
  • $-PCC/D in 1V, where PCC is the Apollo pseudo city code

After identifying the ticketing, itinerary and MIR devices, you can link to them using the following formats:

Format Item:

Description:

HMLMF52303DT

Link terminal to ticketing printer GTID F52303

(DT - Demand Ticket)

HMLMF22302DI

Link terminal to itinerary printer GTID F22302

(DI - Demand Itinerary)

HMLMF72203DA

Link terminal to MIR printer GTID F72203

(DA - Demand Accounting)

HMLMDB7670DX

Link terminal to PRT DEV GTID DB7670

(DX - Demand printability)

You can link to them all in one format by typing:  HMLMxxxxxxDT/xxxxxxDI/xxxxxxDA and press enter.

NOTE – an easy remember these entries are Help Me Link Machine – HMLM and How is My Link Doing – HMLD.

Besides the ones listed above, the following printer linkage codes are available:

Format Item:

Description:

DS

Demand satellite print

DIE

Demand invoice/itinerary/electronic ticket supporting document print

Note: If your agency only issues e-tickets then you do not need to link to a ticket printer GTID. However if your agency issues EMDs, then you must link to a printer GTID in order to issue both EMDs and e-tickets, even though you do not physically produce a document.

If you determine that you are incorrectly linked or simply wish to delink from a device, you can use the following entries:

Format Item:

Description:

HMLM/DELINK

Delink from all printers

HMLM/DELINK/T

Delink from ticket printer only

HMLM/DELINK/I

Delink from itinerary printer only

HMLM/DELINK/A

Delink from MIR device only

HMLM/DELINK/S

Delink from satellite ticket printer only

SETTING PRINTER FORM TYPES FOR HOST PRINTERS IN TRAVELPORT+ SMARTPOINT

When printing or interfacing from Apollo and Galileo, each device must have the appropriate printer form type set for its printer type. A ticketing device must have a type of T, and itinerary device must have a type of I, etc.

LINKING TO PRINTERS

To determine if a form type has been set for your printers, you must first link to your printers.

To verify enter:

Format Item:

Description:

HMLMxxxxxxDT

HMLMxxxxxxDA

Link to MIR device

Note: Where xxxxxx is the printer address (GTID).

View the FM column to determine if a form type is configured:

SETTING PRINTER FORM TYPES

Enter HMOMxxxxxx-FORM TYPE  where xxxxxx is the printer device.

Example: HMOMD2BED2-TKT

Form Types:

  • TKT = Ticket
  • ITN = Itinerary
  • BLK = Hard Copy
  • MIR = No Form Type is used for MIR devices

Note: There is also a special case when the default type for the GTIDs in HMET table should always be ITN, however it is showing BLK or TKT. The workaround is the same, change the FM to the correct type as per the device.

Example:
